This policy explains what information Quizzer handles for accounts, gameplay, profiles, chat, safety, support, and notifications — what we collect, why, and the control you have.
1. Who is responsible
Quizzer is operated by PRESTBØEN APPS, Norwegian organization number 926 077 597.
If you can access the app, use Settings and Contact for privacy, support, and account requests so we can connect the request to the right account. If you cannot access the app, contact us at the support email on this page.
2. Information we collect
- Account identifiers: Firebase anonymous authentication identifiers and Quizzer player IDs.
- Profile information: username, selected app language, optional profile photo, optional city/country, optional status text, profile completion state, public ranking, ELO rating, brainpower balance, and profile statistics.
- Gameplay information: matches, players in a match, selected questions, answers, answer timing, timeouts, late answers, score, streak and Double Down results, ELO changes, question ELO changes, brainpower use, and match history.
- Question content: admin-created questions and user-submitted questions, including question text, alternatives, language, category, approval status, rejection notes, image metadata, and the submitting player when a question is submitted by a user.
- Social information: friend requests, friendships, blocks, chat conversations, chat messages, replies, message reactions, read state, and typing events used for realtime chat behavior.
- Safety and support information: reports, reported target IDs, report reasons and descriptions, moderation actions, support-contact subject and message, and related status/history.
- Notification information: Expo push token, platform, app version, runtime version, disabled state, and notification routing data such as match or conversation IDs.
- Technical information: service logs and request metadata needed to authenticate requests, protect the service, troubleshoot problems, and operate the backend.
3. How we collect information
Most information is provided by you when you create a profile, play matches, submit answers, upload a profile photo, submit questions, send chat messages, use social features, report content, or contact support.
Some information is created automatically by the app and backend, such as Firebase authentication IDs, match state, answer timers, scores, ratings, push tokens, realtime connection tokens, and service logs.
4. How we use information
We use information to create and maintain accounts, run quiz matches, enforce timers, calculate scores and ELO ratings, manage brainpower, show leaderboards and public profiles, enable friend features, deliver chat, process reports, respond to support requests, send notifications, prevent abuse, and keep the service reliable.
We do not sell personal information, use advertising tracking, share data for cross-app or cross-site tracking, or use data brokers. Quizzer does not use cash prizes, payouts, a shop, paid brainpower, or in-app purchases.
5. Public profiles, leaderboard, and chat
Quizzer profiles are public by default. Other players may see your username, avatar or profile photo, ELO, rank, and status text. Friends may see additional profile statistics according to the app rules.
Leaderboard entries use profile and rating information. Chat messages, replies, reactions, and read state are stored so players can use conversations and so reported content can be reviewed.
Blocking another player prevents future interaction according to the app rules, but existing records may remain for safety, moderation, audit, and service integrity.
6. Where information is stored and processed
- Firebase Authentication stores authentication identifiers for anonymous sign-in. Firebase Storage stores optional player profile photos.
- Quizzer backend data is stored in PostgreSQL on Azure. This includes player records, gameplay, questions, social data, chat, reports, support requests, moderation records, and push-token records.
- Azure Web PubSub is used for realtime events such as match updates, friendship changes, chat messages, and typing state.
- Expo services are used to deliver push notifications when you grant notification permission.
These providers process information only as needed to provide authentication, storage, hosting, realtime delivery, notifications, security, and operational support for Quizzer.
7. Photos, camera, and notifications
If you choose a profile photo, the app may ask for photo-library access or camera access. The selected or captured JPEG image is uploaded to Firebase Storage and shown publicly on your profile, leaderboard, chat, and games where profile photos are displayed.
If you allow notifications, Quizzer stores an Expo push token connected to your player account. We use it to send notifications for direct challenge invites, random match pairing, turn reminders, and chat messages. You can disable notifications in your device settings.
8. Account deletion and retention
You can delete your account from Settings in the app. Deletion anonymizes your profile and authentication data by removing the Firebase UID, profile photo reference, location, status text, and public username from the active account record.
Historical gameplay, leaderboard integrity, chat, reports, support requests, moderation records, and audit-related records may remain where needed to keep past matches understandable, operate safety tools, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain service integrity. Deleted accounts are represented as a deleted-user placeholder.
The current backend anonymizes the Quizzer account record. It does not promise immediate deletion of every historical record that referenced the account.
9. Your choices
You can edit your username, language, optional location, optional status text, and profile photo in the app.
You can remove your profile photo in the app. You can block or report players from supported app screens. You can turn off push notifications in your device settings.
For privacy or deletion requests, use the in-app Settings and Contact screens when possible. If you cannot access the app, contact us at the support email below.
